Zoo Day

Yesterday was my company picnic at the Milwaukee Zoo. My mom, myself, and Michael took my niece and we had a great time. FAR more better than my last experience there at the free day! My niece loves monkeys so she was so exited to see them.

Here's a pic of one that we saw!

July 24th, 2006 A Date Never forgotten

Yesterday marked 1 year, since the passing of our dear friend Steve. It's hard to believe that 1 year has already passed.....my thoughts and memories of him are still as strong as ever.

Thoughout my day at work yesterday, I couldn't help but clearly remember the day as it was, 1 year ago. I got a call from Grypp asking me Castner's parent's phone number, as there was someone who had called the helpdesk inquiring about that information. Then shortly afterwards I got another phonecall and I was told that Steve was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq. Immediately my heart sank, and I could not control my emotions, so I quickly told my boss that I had to leave work and ran out of the building towards my car. I remember stopping in the skywalk, and just standing there sobbing......looking out the windows down on Water Street. I was furious.....and kept saying to myself: WHY STEVE....WHY.....WHY......WHY.......THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING.....NOT STEVE....NOT HIM. Then I contintued towards my car in the parking garage, and upon my arrival I had noticed that a window on my car had been busted, and a ton of my stuff was stolen. At this point I had no idea what to do so I went to the security desk only to find out that they are not responsible for any break-ins. So I called my boss and he said to stay where I was and he met me at the parking ramp.......and I was mortified that I was crying in front of my own boss. He helped me call the police to report the break-in, and then I was on my way to my apartment, where Grypp and Michael were waiting. From there we just sat and stared at each other......still in shock.....and then walked over to Shane's to meet with everyone else.

That's the day as I remember it, and that's the day that has changed our lives.

4th of July in Green Bay

I have to say that going to Michael's Grandma's house in Green Bay is always so much fun. This year was even better since we brought my Grandma and my niece. Everyone had a wonderful time and we got to enjoy this beautiful sunset overlooking Green Bay from the back yard.

It can't get much better than this. Hope everyone enjoyed the day off to spend time with your families and friends celebrating this great holiday.
