Christmas Cards

This is probably my favorite time of year, because I actually get mail that is not JUNK or bills.
Last night I hit the jackpot.....6 Christmas Cards on one day! I was like a kid in a candy store when we checked the mail last night......oh the Excitement!! And all my beautiful cards are hanging on display in our dining room....to enjoy every time i walk past them! I LOVE getting christmas cards probably even more than I enjoy getting gifts!!! There's just something about them :-)

It's that time of year

Christmas Cookies!!

This year I am not getting as carried away as I did last year ( I think i did about 8 different kinds)....I just dont' have the time for it. So I am sticking to 3 different kinds of cookies: Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, Snickerdoodles, and Gingerbread
I'll begin my baking tomorrow!

The Nutcracker Ballet

Last year Michael and I took my Grandma to see The Nutcracker, and it was my first time seeing it. We decided to make it into a tradition and see it every year so this past Sunday we went again with some friends. I truely LOVE this performance and I can't wait until my niece is old enough so we can take her to the show. IF you haven't seen it I highly recommend it. The music and the performers are amazing. What a wonderful way to start of the holiday season!!
:-)

New York

What can I say? New York was exactly what I pictured it would be.....LOTS and LOTS of walking, which reminds me how LAZY everyone here in Milwaukee is....I mean how often do you get upset when you can't find a close parking spot? In New York, you walk everywhere! So I definately got some great excercise while i was there. I got to see all the touristy spots: Rockefeller Center, Times Square (which was nuts), China Town, The Met, SoHo, Central Park, and many more! Here's a few pics.

Here I am

Sorry, it's been a crazy past few weeks.....Iowas turned out to not be as bad as I thought it would be. The campus is truely amazing and very huge, probably the largest I have ever been on.

This picture was my favorite part, the Clock Tower which stands in the center of campus.
Our trip was cut short due to the Blizzard/Ice Storm that was headed our way, so we'll have to plan another trip this Spring to plan out where we will want to live.

Iowa

Well tomorrow night Michael and I are off to Ames, Iowa to check out our future home. It'll be my first time there, and I am actually looking forward to it. Our expenses are going to be paid for, so that really helps. We'll be meeting with some people at the University, and talking to some of the Graduate students there. I am also looking forward to checking out the Festival of Blossoms on Friday night as well as the Iowa State Wind Ensemble Winter Concert....ahhhh it will bring back fond memories of high school :-)

Oh and on our way back we may hit up one of the local vineyards as well.....hope they have some decent wine!

Update in My Life

Well I haven't posted in quite a while, but a lot has been going on. Most importantly, Michael and I have picked a WEDDING DATE: April 11th, 2008. We chose this date as it will mark our 5 year anniversary together. The timing just seems right so next year is really going to come quickly for us.

This weekend we went and picked out wedding bands. Michael of course found his in 5 minutes, while I didn't find exactly what I was looking for at all. We're supposed to hear back from the Jeweler this week on different options for me.

Yesterday I did the 5k Panther Prowl walk for the UWM Alumni association. All money was given towards scholarships for new students to the school, so I figured it was a good cause.
It was a LOT OF FUN, even despite the rain that we had, but I will definately try and do more stuff like this as I really enjoyed it. We also had a little post walk celebration at LIVE so we had some drinks, food, and watched the Packer Game!

Weekend of Fall Fun

Friday my friend Karyn came up to Milwaukee to spend the day with me. We went shopping at Bayshore, then headed to Costco. We both got some awesome deals and a lot of stuff.
After she left, Michael and I watched Zodiac......which turned out to be the scariest movie that I have seen in quite a wall. I really recommend this movie for everyone to see......it's SOOOO SCARY....and really well put together.

Saturday I went golfing at Pet's in Kenosha....it was the perfect day to golf! We didn't do too well, but it was still so much fun. We walked the 9 holes, and decided to carry my clubs since I had my new golf bag that has 2 straps and a stand......it was quite the workout. Not sure if I'll try that again....it was pretty harsh on my back seeing the issues that I already have, but figured it would be good excercise.

Sunday Michael and I decided on a whim to drive up to Cedarburg to the Wine and Harvest Festival. We have been wanting to check it out for years now, and we finally got a chance and I can't believe we've been missing out all these years. It was so much fun....and there was so much to see. It was a lot bigger than I thought it would be. I decided my one treat would be a caramel apple from Amy's kitchen which was featured on the Food Network. It was DELICIOUS and worth the 7 dollars that I paid for it! Here's a link to the store:
http://www.amyscandykitchen.com/page.cfm/241

Can't wait to check it out again next year!

I am also heading up to Cedarburg in a few weeks on the first weekend of October with my friend Tarrah....we are going to check out the shops and the Winery.

I LOVE this time of year!!! :-)

You've got to try this

Calling all Oatmeal fans.....I tried this today and it is now one of my favorites. It's not too sweet and it's just a great snack or breakfast item.

http://www.quakeroatmeal.com/qo_ourProducts/simpleHarvest/index.cfm

I tried the Vanilla, Almond and Honey but the others sound pretty good as well.

Seattle 9/1-07 till 9/8/07

I love Seattle.....and had a wonderful trip there yet again. The weather was beautiful and perfect 70's and sunny. We visited 2 Japanese Gardens, the Pike Market, and a town called Leavenworth. We relaxed a lot and helped my sister around her house, since the whole point of going there was to celebrate her 30th Birthday and spend time with her. I have attached a few pictures for you to check out. Hope your week was just as fun!

Madison 8/25/07

Michael and I spent the day in Madison on Saturday. It was a perfect day to be outside.....beautiful and sunny......something that we haven't seen in quite a while.

We met up with our friend Steve's Aunt and Uncle and walked around the Farmer's market. Then we went to lunch at the Old Fashioned, then walked down State Street towards UW and had ice cream and Beer on the Terrace. It was so great to just relax and enjoy the great weather with great people. Above is a picture of our view from the Terrace.

Tall Ships

Yesterday Michael and I went to the Tall Ships Festival in Kenosha. We had a lot of fun and saw a lot of very huge Sailboats. We didn't stay too long as it was pretty hot outside.

Zoo Day

Yesterday was my company picnic at the Milwaukee Zoo. My mom, myself, and Michael took my niece and we had a great time. FAR more better than my last experience there at the free day! My niece loves monkeys so she was so exited to see them.

Here's a pic of one that we saw!

July 24th, 2006 A Date Never forgotten

Yesterday marked 1 year, since the passing of our dear friend Steve. It's hard to believe that 1 year has already passed.....my thoughts and memories of him are still as strong as ever.

Thoughout my day at work yesterday, I couldn't help but clearly remember the day as it was, 1 year ago. I got a call from Grypp asking me Castner's parent's phone number, as there was someone who had called the helpdesk inquiring about that information. Then shortly afterwards I got another phonecall and I was told that Steve was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq. Immediately my heart sank, and I could not control my emotions, so I quickly told my boss that I had to leave work and ran out of the building towards my car. I remember stopping in the skywalk, and just standing there sobbing......looking out the windows down on Water Street. I was furious.....and kept saying to myself: WHY STEVE....WHY.....WHY......WHY.......THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING.....NOT STEVE....NOT HIM. Then I contintued towards my car in the parking garage, and upon my arrival I had noticed that a window on my car had been busted, and a ton of my stuff was stolen. At this point I had no idea what to do so I went to the security desk only to find out that they are not responsible for any break-ins. So I called my boss and he said to stay where I was and he met me at the parking ramp.......and I was mortified that I was crying in front of my own boss. He helped me call the police to report the break-in, and then I was on my way to my apartment, where Grypp and Michael were waiting. From there we just sat and stared at each other......still in shock.....and then walked over to Shane's to meet with everyone else.

That's the day as I remember it, and that's the day that has changed our lives.

4th of July in Green Bay

I have to say that going to Michael's Grandma's house in Green Bay is always so much fun. This year was even better since we brought my Grandma and my niece. Everyone had a wonderful time and we got to enjoy this beautiful sunset overlooking Green Bay from the back yard.

It can't get much better than this. Hope everyone enjoyed the day off to spend time with your families and friends celebrating this great holiday.

Though rumors have been circulating for years, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Urban Outfitters, the trendy, moderately priced chain based in Philadelphia, has finally leased more than 12,000 square feet of the southwest corner of Prospect Avenue and Kenilworth Place, in the new Kenilworth building.

The Milwaukee-area UrbanOutfitters, which sells housewares and men's and women's clothing, will join the downtown Madison location as the second store in Wisconsin.

First Weekend in June

It's hard to believe that June is already here. Half the year is over, and the final half is yet to come. I'm sure it will go just as fast. This weekend was Jim and Bethany's shower. They lucked out and had some beautiful weather for it. Only a few more weeks till we get to meet little Rosie.

It's so wonderful to see how proud and exited they are to become parents....what a joyous time in their lives.

I also got to spend some time down at my parents house this weekend, and I got to spend somet ime with my niece as well. She is really a handful.....growing up so fast!
Every June my favorite Rose bushes are in bloom at my parent's house. The smell of them brings me back to my childhood. There's just something about these roses that bring a smile to my face.

Memorial Day Weekend

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend.....and hope you all took a moment to think about all the soldiers that have given up their lives for our country.....especially our Steve. I know that I can speak for a lot of us when I say that Memorial Day will always be looked at differently for us.

Colorado Fun

Just got back last night from a wonderful surprise visit to Denver, CO for my friend Patty's Graduation! Flew out with her Mom and totally surprised her! We had a great time and I am kind of sad since this will most likely be my last time out to Colorado in a very long time since my friend and her husband are moving to Philly this week. We had some really good times in Colorado, but look forward to more in Philly!

Great Home Safety Tip

For Car Owners with Car Alarms:

So I received a newsletter from my company's legal dept. which included the following tip:

Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to break in, just press the panic button for your car alarm. The alarm will be set off and the horn will continue to sound until you turn it off or your car battery dies. It's a security alarm that you already have, and requires no installation. Odds are that you will scare away the burglar and your neighbors will all be staring out their windows to see what is going on.
(This came from a Neighborhood Watch Coordinator)

I think this is a good idea when you are home alone and want some extra protection!

Weekend

So Michael's parents are coming down tonight to stay with us so we can celebrate Mother's Day. I am making Chicken Fettucini Alfredo. Then I still need to come up with some recipe for Brunch tomorrow. We may also take them to the Domes, or something....maybe the new Discovery World Museum. Sunday we'll be spending the day down in K-town with my Mom. Lots of fun!

Spring Cleaning

So yesterday I left work early......and started to clean our bedroom, which has been quite a mess for months now. I cleaned out our closet, so now we can actually walk in there now and got rid of 2 huge garbage bags of clothes that I never wear. I also cleaned my bathroom...and Michael helped me re-arrange the bedroom furniture. It feels so good to have everything so clean and organized. Yay for Spring Cleaning!!

Saturday we had some people over to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.....everyone brought in lots of tasty Mexican food....I really enjoyed Tam's Drunken Chicken!! We also had a lot of Margarita's and Mojito's to celebrate. Glad everyone had a great time.

Yesterday was awesome....michael and I went Mini golfing with Tam....also took a few swings in the Batting cages which was a lot of fun. Afterwards we went to see Spiderman at my company's new Theatre. Then we saw Kathleen Madigan perform there as well, and she put on a really great show.

Fleet Farm Fun

So Michael and I took a nice trip up to Fleet Farm in Men. Falls/Germantown area last night. We stopped at Cracker Barrel for dinner....and got some fine home cookin!

We bought a few camping items to use this summer with the new tent that I got Michael for his Birthday. We plan to do quite a bit of camping this year, so we are excited to get ready for it. And the tent is big enough for those of you who want to join us on some camping adventures!

Woot Romance

So we've all gone to woot.com and checked out their deal of the day, however check this out:

We Now Pronounce You Man, Wife, and WootLove was in the air last Friday as Logan Buell of Black Mountain, NC proposed to his girlfriend Bethany Rice in the most romantic way known to man: through a Woot product description! Our staff worked with him to nestle the big question in the writeup for some cordless phones. After he and Bethany checked Woot together like they do every morning, Logan presented the ring in a refashioned Woot box for maximum matrimonial style. We wish those kids nothing but the best! Get your hankie ready and read the whole heart-tugging story.http://www.woot.com/Blog/BlogEntry.aspx?BlogEntryId=2261http://www.woot.com/Forums/ViewPost.aspx?PostID=1183922

Morningstar Farms

So my sister got me hooked on Morningstar Farms products.

My favorites so far are: Black Bean Burgers and Breakfast Sausage Patties.

Today for lunch I will be trying out their Tomato and Basil Pizza Burger. I like to bring these to work and put them on Toasted bread....delish.

Here's a link to their site if you are interested and searching for their products and recipes!!

Free Day does not equal Fun Day

So I took my Niece to the Free Day at the Milwaukee Zoo yesterday.
*BIG MISTAKE*

I'd rather pay full price than to deal with the parking, and thousands of people who were there.

However, we still had a good time, and my Niece loved seeing all the animals!

I just don't ever recommend to attend the free days, especially when the weather is super nice out like it was this past weekend!

Beautiful Weekend Ahead of Us

I am really looking forward to this weekend.
Michael and I are taking my mom out to lunch down in Chicago tomorrow, then we're cooking out at our friend's new house tomorrow night. Then Sunday I am taking my Niece to the Zoo.

Chicago

Chicago was soooo much fun this weekend.

We ate dinner Saturday night at Sushi Samba http://www.sushisamba.com/top.html

Everything was soooo good!

Then we went to Club 720. We definately got our dance on, and this place was a LOT of fun!!

Fun times!!!

I hope to get down to Chicago more often!

Lush

So my sister got me hooked on LUSH which is a brand of fresh homemade soaps and natural cosmetics. The only place where we have seen the store was in Vancouver, however, this weekend we checked out the new store in Water Tower Place in Downtown Chicago. It's so awesome to see that this store finally opened up in the US! You need to check this place out if you haven't already!!

This weekend my sister got me some Herbalism face cleanser and I picked up some Figs and Leaves Body soap!

Bubble Tea

So last night I met up with 2 very good longtime friends who I have known for practically my whole life. We went out to eat at an Awesome Korean BBQ restaurant, where we grilled our own meat on little hibachi grills.

Afterwards we stopped for Bubble Tea at an awesome Cafe:
Liquid Fusion
http://www.liquidfusioncafe.com/index.htm

I got the House Fusion Tea, which was absolutely the best!!!

Why aren't there cafe's like this in Milwaukee!!! We are totally missing out up here!
The only downside to this place is that it was a MAJOR High School hangout.....but that wont' stop me from going back.

I do think I recall East Garden having Bubble Teas, but those do NOT compare to this place at all!!

I'm Back

Sorry that there were no new updates while in Paris. Michael was too afraid to plug his laptop in to the adapter over there as it made a LOUD buzzing sound when he did, so we never got to charge it up. Our hotel did have a computer downstairs that you could use, for 2 euro every 15 minutes, but I tried that once and got super frustrated because the keyboards are different over there so I felt like an idiot trying to type!

Now I will get back into the swing of things!!!

Paris

I am out of here. We leave for France tomorrow, and will return on the 25th.
I will try and post on my adventures in Paris while I am there....so check for updates!

:-)

New product

So I went to Target with Tam last night and bought a new deoderant that Secret makes:

http://www.secret.com/ClinicalStrength.do

It's Clinical Strength for those who tend to sweat excessively in their underarm region.

So I decided to try it out and I do have to say that it is well worth the 7 dollars that it costs!
I highly recommend this stuff.......I have it on today and I just love it!!!

You can sign up for a Free Sample on their website...so try it out!!!

Predicted Eye Color Results

So Tamara posted this link on her site:

http://museum.thetech.org/ugenetics/eyeCalc/eyecalculator.html

And according to this site, my children will have a 37.5% chance of having Blue Eyes!!!!
And a 50 percent chance of having Brown. How exciting!! :-)

Dirty Love

Down in Okie, I developed a strong love for Dirty Martini's. However it has to be made with Belvidere Vodka, and it has to be EXTRA DIRTY. I drank these nightly down there, and now that I have been back for almost a week, I was craving one of these last night.

Fortunately Jim could not make movie night, so we were forced to run to the Video Store, and while the guys went there, Tam and I went to the ol' Liquor Store to get supplies. I found that Tam is pretty hard core with her martini's while I on the other hand enjoyed my Dirty peacefully. What a lovely night: Ocean's Eleven + Dirty

My Niece's Birthday Cake

So I decided to be creative....and make a Birthday Cake for my niece's 1st Birthday. Here is how it turned out:

I've never made a nice cake like this before, so I am pretty proud of myself. It was a lot of fun to make and I think she really liked it! She's my Little Princess!!

Back on Track

Sorry I haven't posted in a few weeks.....I got sick, then had to go to Okie for work, and in 3 days I'll be off to Paris! I'll try and get some new posts in before I go though.

Washington first in state to give everyone MacBooks

Three classrooms full of Washington sixth-graders received laptops Monday morning — each from a dignitary from Kenosha Unified, local government, the state Department of Education, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside or Apple Inc. — making Washington the first public school in the state to outfit each of its students with a portable computer.“I couldn’t think of a better school,” said Superintendent Scott Pierce, who pointed to Principal Beth Sabo’s dogged commitment to keeping Washington near the cutting edge of educational technology as the driving force behind what is now known as Washington’s 1:1 program — the ratio of laptops to kids.

Why I love Sam's Club

So I went shopping this past weekend, and I found several spring coats that I just LOVED, however the pricetag was just not in my budget: 200 is a little pricey for a spring coat in my opinion. Well I happened to go to Sam's Club yesterday in Racine, and found the same style coat for only 24 dollars! I should have bought 2 in different colors! Anyways, here's a link to the coat that I bought. It's listed here as $159.00. I just got a SWEET DEAL people!

Ozzfest for free???

Sounds like this good be a good, or BAD thing:

http://www.mkeonline.com/watch/?watch=21&date=2/7/2007&id=18650
What rhymes with free? Ozzy!
Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne just announced that the 12th annual Ozzfest is going to be free this summer. One of those free shows will be in Chicago, but whether it will stop in Alpine Valley is yet to be confirmed. So who's paying for the event? Sponsors. Event passes will be available on Ozzfest's site or Livenation's site, which direct them to special sponsor sites where tickets can be had.Ozzy, who is releasing his first album in six years, is headlining again this year.

Did you hear about this?

My Job

So a good friend of mine asked me what my position is here at work.

I thought I'd share with all of you.

I'm a Technical Support Specialist/Account Administrator

Therefore I support all of the technical problems that our users at the various hotels that we own/manage have: mainly application set-ups and day to day system support. I also create and manage all of the Network logins and Email boxes for the Company.

2 year Anniversary

So today was the luncheon to celebrate all the anniversarys here at work.

They took us to the New Mason Street Grill inside the Pfister which turned out to be super nice.

We had 4 courses:
Crab Cakes
Chopped Salad
Filet Mignon and Grilled Shrimp with Mashed potatoes and Asparagus
Carrot Cake

Way too much food for one meal, but very delicious. If you get a chance you should really
try this place out on your next special occasion:

It's a little pricey, but totally worth it. It was one of the best steaks that I have ever had!

Oh, and I even got a beautiful Corsage to wear :-)

Yay for Casey!!!!

So my friend Casey and her husband Chris just bought their first HOUSE!!!!
I am just soooo excited for them!!!

Get your Polka On

It's one of the state's dirty little secrets: polka. But this documentary is out to give polka a good name and convert all those lederhosen-shunning non-believers. Filmed in 2005 at major polka festivals in Wisconsin, it's already working: The filmmakers took home best documentary at the Bluegrass Independent Film Festival. If you can't get enough polka, the Riverwest Accordion Club will perform before the screening. Then you can roll out the barrel at Art's Concertina Bar for an after-party.

Latte Art

So....I am determined to learn how to make beautiful latte's, however I need to first learn how to use my new Espresso Machine that I got for Christmas. I still haven't gotten around to watching the video that came with it :-) But I did order a nice Frothing pitcher which will help out my art patterns, once I start.

In case you non-coffee drinkers out there do not know what this fine form of art is,
